- or do you continue doing it to keep a trickle of money coming in while you find something better.

I would favor the latter as no matter how much money you have in reserve you don't want to use it all up and have to return to working for an employer. Eventually you will find the right project (we don't call them jobs anymore because you are self-employed) to enable you to earn the money you need.

But that's not the end of it.....

Once you are earning your target of say $100 - remember that was just your minimum. Don't be tempted to limit yourself by saying "well I earned $97 today I can finish". If your minimum was $100 per day but your must earn was $200 per day (which will give you a bit of extra cash and allow you to have a life) keep pushing your limits and before you know it you'll be on top of the world knowing that you can make your living from home. From there the sky is the limit - if you can make $200 a day how will you feel on that day that you make $300 a day! And then...
